Come siete arrivati a quest sound?

Qualche data italiana in mente?

– Ci puoi dire qualche episodio divertente successo on the road?

Ohhh.. questa è veramente difficile e anche “ciò che succede on the road, rimane on the road” 🙂 Non lo dirò mai!

Voce- Jim Morrison

Batteria – John Bonham

Tastierista – Jon Lord

Chitarre- Jimi Hendrix e Rory Gallagher

Bassista – Cliff Burton

– Hello Johan, welcome on Heavyworlds.com for this interview. So let’s start! You guys are actually touring USA and then Japan right? How was the response of the audience for the new songs taken from “Massive Addictive”?

Well….we have only tried out a couple of songs from the new album so far, but I must say that the audience really seems to like it and even if they haven´t heard them at all or very a little of it, it really seems like they catch on that fast so it´s really good to be able to give them that!

– Let’s talk about your new record, “Massive Addictive”. Comparing it to the previous works, I could say the sound is more energic, heavier, there are more growl parts than before. How did you get to this new sound?

I would like to say that it is a bit more of everything about us on this third album. And to me it´s just a natural step in the evolution of the Amaranthe sound that led to the sound this album has…and also the first two have more differences between them, but I really think this one sticks out much more.
We´ve grown up a bit since the first one came out and then a lot of things about the band have changed, but also personally, and that reflects in the music, at least as I see (or hear) it.

– What’s the meaning behind the record “Massive Addictive? Is it a concept album?

Actually it isn’t a concept album..but we can´t say for sure until the forth album comes out, can´t we? 😉

– And what could you say about the meaning of the title and cover artwork? Well “Massive Addictive” is very massive addictive ahaha if you were aiming to create addiction to whom listen to your work, well you guys have hit the mark! The songs are so catchy and addictive!

Hahaha…thank you…I think you hit the mark on there my friend… The title says pretty much what we think that this album is and also the song “massive addictive” is a killer song…. Regarding the cover work it´s Gustavo Sazes who did and we been working a lot with him and we´re all great fans of his work. And the clean gold and white cover-art is something I think we all can relate to as this marks the end of one era and a start for a new era for us since releasing our third album is a big deal for us and this time we going to make an even bigger mark!

– How did the creative process for Massive Addictive work?

The creative process hasn´t changed that much since the previous albums. It´s still Jake Olof And Elise that are the masterminds behind the music. They simply record ideas that they send to each other and then sit down together and work from the ideas they have and see what they can come up with…not to dramatic actually!

– This was Henrik’s first time recording an album with Amaranthe, right? How was working with him? Has he taken part in the lyrics or vocal lines writing?

Henrik is a great man to work with and be around and share a stage with! And being a part of the three vocalist he of course has put his signature on both lyrics and vocal lines and been a part in arrranging the lyrics so that it fits all three as much as possible!

– What’s your favourite song of the album and why? Which one was the easiest to write and which the most difficult one?

Ohhh…..that´s a really hard question for me to answer, since I wasn´t a part of the writing..I think my favorite song by now it´s Digital World or at least Massive addictive… But that changes pretty much for me from day to day!

– Talking about “Drop Dead Cynical”, this video was different from the previous ones. Is there any meaning behind it?

No…not in any other way then this album is different from the first two…we wanted to do something different from what we did before and we had the possibility so we simply did.

– It’s typical to find a ballad in every work by “Amaranthe”, but this time there are two of them, “True” and “Over And Done”, they are both great and touchy! What’s the meaning behind these two songs? Are you thinking to make one of them a single as you did with Amaranthine and Burn With Me?

I´m sorry if I´m in anyway is rude by saying so but the meaning of the songs and they are about is completely up to those who listen…songs and lyrics mean so different things to different people and I don´t wanna break any illusions or beliefs for anyone..it is what you make of it! And if any of those songs will be a single…well…we just have to wait and see 😉

– What could you say about your plans for the future, any European Tour in 2015? Any italian dates in mind?

The future will be hectic I believe 😀
2015 will most certainly be a very busy year for and with saying that I mean that we will most likely do a European Tour and if we do I would be very surprised if we didn´t come to Italy 😉

– Could you tell us any funny episodes happened on the road?

ohh…that´s a really hard one….and also… “what happens on the road…stays on the road!” 😉 I never kiss and tell!
But…I can say that our bus has most likely broke down more then any other bus we ever been on 😀

– You guys have been playing in Italy more than once. What do you like and don’t like about our country?

I really like the people and I know that I speak for everyone when I say that we all just love the Italian food!! And it is a incredibly beautiful country that you should take care of in pride!!

– Imagine you could create a band with whoever-you-want as members (two guitars, one bass guitar, one drummer, one keyboarder and oneor two voices). Who would you choose for each role and why?

I´m gonna go for artists that passed away…

Vocals- Jim Morrison
Drums-John Bonham
Keyboad- Jon Lord
Guitar- Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher
Bass- Cliff Burton

The reason I´ve chosen these people is simply because they FREKKIN ROCK BIG TIME!!!
But I have noooo idea what it would sound like and if they even would get along enough to make good music 😀

– That’s all for now. Thank you for your time. Is there anything you would like to say to your fans or Heavyworlds readers?

Thank you for having me and thanks a whole lotta love to all of you out there supporting us and coming to our shows… Stay safe and take care of each other!
