[ENG] After their previous albums, Edge of Paradise is set to release their new album “Prophecy” on March 7th. This band brings a unique sound that I would describe as modern cinematic. What really impressed me was the originality of their sound, the sense of experimentation that works so well for them, creating something fresh and new in the metal scene. They definitely stand out. Of course, this genre has to resonate with the listener, but Margarita Monet‘s voice is particularly distinctive, which is exactly what makes it so beautiful and sets her apart from many other singers in similar genres.
The album opens with “Death Note,” a highly energetic track that sets the tone. “Give it to Me (Mind Assassin),” featuring Ben V. from Ludovico, brings in a catchy, danceable rhythm with interesting shifts in tempo, giving the track a unique feel. “Prophecy Unbound” follows, a more melodic song with guitars leading the way and guiding the overall vibe. Then comes “Sad Life of a Rose,” where the keyboards dominate the sound, beginning slowly but building intensity as the vocals get more powerful, reflecting a world in decline. “Rogue (Aim for the Kill)” brings a more epic and diverse sound, contrasting with “Hear Me,” which starts as a slower, sweeter ballad accompanied by keyboards. This is the first time Margarita sings with only keyboard backing, a detail that gives this track a fresh and intimate vibe. “The Other Side of Fear” is a more peaceful, introspective track that features subtle keyboard layers. “Martyr (Monster)” brings us back to heavier, more intense moments, followed by “Relive Again,” where the sense of living again is brought to life by more prominent drums and a sound that feels revitalizing. The album closes with “Falling Light“, a track that perfectly encapsulates the feeling of closure, bringing the album to a satisfying end.
I’m truly glad to have had the chance to dive deeper into “Prophecy“, as it’s an album that brings freshness, novelty, and curiosity. Edge of Paradise has proven that they’re not afraid to push boundaries and are destined to carve their own path in the world of metal.
[ITA] Dopo i loro album precedenti, gli “Edge of Paradise” sono pronti a pubblicare il nuovo disco “Prophecy” il 7 marzo. Questa band porta con sé un sound unico, che definirei cinematografico e moderno. Ciò che mi ha davvero colpito è l’originalità del loro suono, quel senso di sperimentazione che funziona alla perfezione, creando qualcosa di fresco e innovativo nella scena metal. Si fanno sicuramente notare. Ovviamente questo genere deve incontrare i gusti dell’ascoltatore, ma la voce di Margarita Monet è particolarmente distintiva, ed è proprio questo a renderla speciale e a differenziarla dalle solite cantanti di generi simili.
L’album si apre con “Death Note“, un brano carico di energia che dà subito il tono. “Give it to Me (Mind Assassin)“, con la partecipazione di Ben V. dei Ludovico, ha un ritornello accattivante e ballabile, con interessanti cambi di ritmo che rendono la traccia unica. A seguire troviamo “Prophecy Unbound“, un pezzo più melodico, guidato dalle chitarre che ne definiscono l’atmosfera. “Sad Life of a Rose” si distingue per il predominio delle tastiere, con un inizio lento che poi cresce d’intensità man mano che la voce si fa più potente, esprimendo il declino di un mondo in crisi. “Rogue (Aim for the Kill)” introduce un sound più epico e variegato, mentre “Hear Me” si apre con un’atmosfera più dolce e lenta, accompagnata dal pianoforte. Questa è la prima volta che Margarita canta con il solo accompagnamento delle tastiere, un dettaglio che dona alla traccia un’intimità particolare. “The Other Side of Fear” è un brano più tranquillo e riflessivo, arricchito da delicate sonorità di tastiera. Con “Martyr (Monster)” si torna a un sound più carico e potente, seguito da “Relive Again“, in cui il senso di rinascita emerge attraverso una batteria più marcata e un suono complessivo che trasmette energia e vitalità. Il disco si chiude con “Falling Light“, un brano che offre una perfetta sensazione di conclusione, chiudendo il cerchio in modo soddisfacente.
Sono davvero felice di aver avuto l’opportunità di approfondire “Prophecy“, un album che porta freschezza, novità e curiosità. Gli Edge of Paradise hanno dimostrato di non avere paura di spingersi oltre i confini e sono destinati a ritagliarsi il loro spazio nel mondo del metal.
