l’eccessiva pulizia digitale in brani come Eternal Fight smorza l’energia grezza tipica del metal
classico, privilegiando una perfezione tecnica che a tratti risulta asettica.
Tra i momenti salienti bisogna sottolineare:

Una menzione speciale la merita il chitarrista Igor Paspalj, che incide significativamente,
plasmando emozioni con i suoi assoli: ogni fraseggio, scolpito con cura maniacale, diventa un
linguaggio universale. La sua maestria non si limita al virtuosismo, ma intreccia dettagli minuziosi a
slanci narrativi, trascinando l’ascolto in vortici di pathos e precisione.
L’album mostra alcune limitazioni che ne frenano il pieno potenziale. L’alternanza dei cantanti, se
da un lato offre varietà, dall’altro crea una certa discontinuità stilistica, dando l’impressione di una
compilation più che di un lavoro coeso. Alcuni testi si affidano a temi e frasi già sentiti nel metal,
perdendo occasione per esplorare territori più originali. Brani come “Win or Lose” e “Damned
Sorrows“, pur ben eseguiti, seguono strutture musicali piuttosto convenzionali. La produzione, pur
curata, privilegia un suono troppo pulito che a volte smorza l’energia grezza tipica del genere. Pur
essendo un ottimo tributo al metal classico, l’album avrebbe guadagnato maggiore personalità con
qualche rischio in più a livello compositivo e testuale.
Nightsteel si conferma un debutto solido per gli amanti del metal classico, con riff energici, assoli
precisi e slanci epici che omaggiano con passione gli anni ’80. Brani come “Whispers of the
Heart” e “Carry On” brillano per intensità melodica e virtuosismo, mentre la varietà vocale, pur
discontinua, regala sorprese come il carisma di Mauro Elias. Sebbene alcuni passaggi risultino
prevedibili e i testi raramente sfuggano ai cliché, l’album dimostra una base tecnica promettente.
Con una regia più audace, magari integrando elementi più legati alla propria cultura greca o
definendo un’identità vocale coerente, i Nightsteel avrebbero potuto presentare un’opera iconica.
Un inizio incoraggiante, che lascia ben sperare per futuri capitoli più ambiziosi.
