From the very first listen, “I’M THE MAN” makes it clear this isn’t your typical bonus track. It’s angry, sarcastic, loud, pure Stand Atlantic, but with an extra edge thanks to Lauren Sanderson’s raw, powerful vocals. The track hits like a punch in the face to the powerful, to those sitting comfortably at the top looking down. As frontwoman Bonnie explained, the song started with a biting question: “What if I were a rich asshole who didn’t give a damn about anything?” The answer is a track that bursts with frustration and energy, a perfect anthem for the times we’re living in.
And the rest of the deluxe edition doesn’t fall short either. There are some killer surprises, like a reimagined version of “FREAKIN’ OUT” by PVRIS, and a remix of “CRIMINAL” by Mr. Bill, both breathing new life into already strong tracks. The extended tracklist now hits 19 songs, staying true to their pop-punk roots while branching out into electronic, alt-rock, and even more reflective moments like the stripped-back “17 // REPRIZE [ONE TAKE].”
“WAS HERE” (Deluxe) proves that Stand Atlantic still have plenty to say, and they’d much rather make noise than follow rules or stick to predictable formulas. Dopo il successo del loro album “WAS HERE“, la band punk-rock australiana torna il 16 maggio con una deluxe edition che non è un semplice ripescaggio, ma un vero e proprio upgrade sonoro. Tra remix, tracce aggiuntive e collaborazioni fuori dagli schemi, il nuovo singolo “I’M THE MAN” con Lauren Sanderson è la punta di diamante di questa nuova uscita.
Fin dal primo ascolto, “I’M THE MAN” fa capire che questa non è una bonus track come le altre. È arrabbiata, sarcastica, rumorosa, in perfetto stile Stand Atlantic, ma con quella marcia in più data dalla voce potente e graffiante di Lauren Sanderson. Il pezzo è un pugno in faccia al potere, a chi sta in alto troppo comodo a guardare in basso. Una provocazione dichiarata dalla stessa Bonnie (voce della band), nata da una domanda tanto semplice quanto caustica: “E se fossi un riccone stronzo che se ne frega di tutto?” La risposta è un brano che esplode di energia e frustrazione, perfetto per i tempi che corrono.
Il resto della deluxe edition non è da meno. Tra le sorprese troviamo remix inediti, come “FREAKIN’ OUT” riletto da PVRIS e “CRIMINAL” remixato da Mr. Bill, che danno nuova vita a due brani già fortissimi. La tracklist si allunga fino a 19 pezzi, mantenendo l’anima punk-pop ma esplorando anche sonorità elettroniche, alternative e perfino momenti più malinconici come “17 // REPRIZE [ONE TAKE]”.
“WAS HERE” (Deluxe) conferma che Stand Atlantic è una band che ha ancora molto da dire, e che preferisce fare casino piuttosto che seguire regole o formule prevedibili.
