One of the most explosive moments is definitely “Never Again (Parasite)” , a track that hits like a punch to the chest, with razor-sharp riffs and a chorus that sticks in your head like a threat. It’s about breaking free from someone who’s drained your energy and identity, with a fury that feels both restrained and ferocious, almost cathartic. Also worth noting is a rare vocal appearance by guitarist Diamond Rowe in one of the verses, a subtle but emotional touch in an already blazing song.
But the rest of the album is just as intense. Opener “Anything Like Myself” immediately sets the tone for the emotional journey at the album’s core, while “Live Not Fantasize” dives into ’90s industrial territory with gritty electronic textures. “Erase” and “Cold” highlight the band’s more vulnerable and melodic side, without ever losing their edge.
Diamond Rowe is absolutely monstrous on guitar, slicing riffs, spine-chilling solos, and a sound that’s both technical and deeply visceral. The production, helmed by Dave Otero alongside Rowe and frontman Josh Fore, is modern but never overpolished. You can feel the weight, the flesh, the fury.
“The Ugly Side of Me” sounds like a liberating scream, made for those who’ve learned to love even their own cracks. Each track tells a piece of the process: acceptance, collapse, struggle, rebirth. And it’s in that very human narrative that the album finds its greatest strength.

Uno dei momenti più esplosivi è sicuramente “Never Again (Parasite)“, un brano che è una coltellata in pieno petto, con un riff serrato e un ritornello che ti resta in testa come una minaccia. Parla di liberarsi da chi ti ha risucchiato energie e identità, con una rabbia controllata ma furiosa, tanto da sembrare quasi catartica. Da notare anche la strofa cantata da Diamond Rowe: un’apparizione vocale inedita per la chitarrista, che aggiunge sfumature emotive a un brano già incendiario.
Ma il resto non è da meno. L’opener “Anything Like Myself” mette subito in chiaro l’intensità del viaggio interiore al centro dell’album, mentre “Live Not Fantasize” si tinge di industrial anni ’90 con inserti elettronici graffianti. “Erase” e “Cold” mostrano invece il lato più vulnerabile e melodico della band, senza mai perdere in intensità.
