[ENG] Anyone who grew up on early-2000s emo pop, from My Chemical Romance to Fall Out Boy, will find “Severed Heart City” a welcome throwback. Greywind’s second album channels the spirit of that era, where emotionally charged lyrics met instantly memorable melodies, while still sounding relevant and contemporary.

Greywind are an Irish sibling duo whose career has been anything but straightforward. After a promising debut and a subsequent loss of industry support, the band rebuilt momentum through a surge in popularity on TikTok, ultimately leading to the release of this second full-length album under a new label. “Severed Heart City” stands as both the result and the reflection of that journey.

The album is immediate and cohesive from the outset. “Acid Rain” serves as a perfect opener: energetic, catchy, and arena-ready, with a pop sensibility that occasionally recalls Avril Lavigne’s more accessible moments. “I.K.A.M.F.” follows in a similar vein, maintaining high energy and reaffirming the band’s anthemic approach.

“HAPPY ):” slightly eases the pace without becoming a traditional ballad, while “Waterfall“, “Swerve“ and “Make-Believe“ further strengthen the album’s identity through strong hooks and consistent songwriting. Moon stands out as one of the most intimate tracks on the record, nostalgic and restrained, carried by Steph’s soft and expressive vocal delivery. “Let’s See If You Can Float” continues this reflective mood, before “The Scarecrow“ emerges as a deeply touching ballad and one of the emotional high points of the album. “Cope in the Coma” closes the record on a powerful note, functioning as a fitting and effective finale.

With “Severed Heart City“, Greywind demonstrate how past influences can be reinterpreted with renewed purpose. The band’s recent social media success appears to be only the beginning: this album not only pays tribute to emo pop’s formative years, but also positions Greywind as a band ready to reach far beyond nostalgia.

“Let’s See If You Can Float” mantiene un’atmosfera riflessiva, mentre “The Scarecrow” emerge come una ballad intensa e toccante, tra i picchi emotivi dell’album.

["post-37067","review","type-review","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry

[ENG/ITA] GREYWIND - Severed Heart City - Heavyworlds.com

<meta property="og:description" content="[ENG] Anyone who grew up on early-2000s emo pop, from My Chemical Romance to Fall Out Boy, will find “Severed Heart City” a welcome throwback.
