[ENG] <\/em><\/strong>Coming from Detroit, Michigan, are Eva Under Fire, a band that in recent years has carved out an interesting space in the modern hard rock scene thanks to a mix of immediate melodies, alternative influences, and a more aggressive component that emerges especially during the heavier moments. After their debut “Love, Drugs & Misery<\/strong><\/em>” in 2022, the band returns with “Villainous<\/strong>“<\/em>, an album that seems to want to show a more aware and determined version of the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the center of the project there is certainly Amanda Lyberg<\/em><\/strong>\u2019s voice, capable of moving from very melodic performances to more gritty moments without losing its identity. Eva Under Fire build their sound precisely on this contrast: vulnerability and anger, introspection and the desire to react. An balance that in “Villainous<\/strong><\/em>” is used to tell stories about personal growth, difficulties faced, and the ability to move forward despite everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening track \u201cAwakening<\/em><\/strong>\u201d is a fitting choice: the song immediately captures attention with a good amount of melody and creates the right expectations for the rest of the album. It is not a track that relies only on immediate impact, but it manages to introduce the overall atmosphere of the record very well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy Own Name<\/em><\/strong>\u201d changes the pace and immediately shows one of the band\u2019s strengths: memorable choruses, a strong vocal presence, and a structure designed to reach the listener directly. It is one of those songs that seems made to work well live too. The same energy can be found in \u201cSurvive My Scars<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, where the band continues moving between modern hard rock and sounds closer to alternative metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The title track \u201cVillainous<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, featuring Maria Brink<\/em><\/strong> from In This Moment<\/strong><\/em>, is definitely one of the most interesting moments of the album. The darker atmosphere and the interaction between the two voices give the song an extra edge, creating a powerful track without sacrificing its melodic side. \u201cThe Words You Say<\/em><\/strong>\u201d slightly slows down the pace but maintains a strong emotional impact thanks to a well-built progression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the album\u2019s best aspects is exactly this balance between aggression and melody. \u201cDon\u2019t Say I\u2019m <\/em><\/strong>Ok<\/strong><\/em>\u201d is a good example: compared to other tracks, it features a rougher element, with a dirtier vocal approach and a more direct attitude, while still keeping that catchy side that represents one of the band\u2019s trademarks. \u201cHello Hollow\u201d fits well into the flow of the album, maintaining balance without feeling like a simple filler track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second half of the album, we find songs that are more focused on the melodic side, such as \u201cDark Soul<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, where the emotional side of the band emerges more clearly. \u201cGasoline<\/em><\/strong>\u201d is probably one of the most immediate tracks, thanks to a chorus that easily stays in your head and that seems designed to be sung loudly by the audience. \u201cMurder Scene<\/em><\/strong>\u201d follows a similar direction, keeping the attention high before the final part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSafe Word<\/em><\/strong>\u201d guides the listener toward the ending with a more reflective atmosphere, while \u201cTeeth<\/em><\/strong>\u201d and \u201cA Violent End<\/em><\/strong>\u201d close the album leaving a heavier and more intense feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, “Villainous<\/strong><\/em>” is an album that focuses heavily on authenticity and on the ability to transform personal experiences into accessible but not trivial songs. Eva Under Fire<\/em><\/strong> are not trying to completely reinvent the genre, but they show that they know their strengths well: a great voice, effective choruses, and a balance between energy and melody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second chapter that confirms the band\u2019s growth and that could appeal especially to those who love modern rock with alternative influences and a strong emotional component.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[ITA]<\/em><\/strong> Arrivano da Detroit, Michigan, gli Eva Under Fire<\/em><\/strong>, una band che negli ultimi anni si \u00e8 ritagliata uno spazio interessante nella scena hard rock moderna grazie a un mix di melodie immediate, influenze alternative e una componente pi\u00f9 aggressiva che emerge soprattutto nei momenti pi\u00f9 pesanti. Dopo il debutto “Love, Drugs & Misery<\/strong><\/em>” del 2022, il gruppo torna con “Villainous<\/strong><\/em>“, un disco che sembra voler mostrare una versione pi\u00f9 consapevole e decisa della band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Al centro del progetto c\u2019\u00e8 sicuramente la voce di Amanda Lyberg<\/em><\/strong>, capace di passare da interpretazioni molto melodiche a momenti pi\u00f9 graffianti senza perdere identit\u00e0. Gli Eva Under Fire<\/em><\/strong> costruiscono il loro suono proprio su questo contrasto: fragilit\u00e0 e rabbia, introspezione e voglia di reagire. Un equilibrio che in “Villainous<\/strong><\/em>” viene sfruttato per raccontare temi legati alla crescita personale, alle difficolt\u00e0 affrontate e alla capacit\u00e0 di andare avanti nonostante tutto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019apertura affidata ad \u201cAwakening<\/em><\/strong>\u201d \u00e8 una scelta azzeccata: il brano cattura subito l\u2019attenzione con una buona dose di melodia e crea quella giusta aspettativa per il resto del disco. Non \u00e8 una traccia che punta tutto sull\u2019impatto immediato, ma riesce a introdurre bene l\u2019atmosfera generale dell\u2019album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy Own Name<\/em><\/strong>\u201d cambia marcia e mostra subito uno dei punti forti della band: ritornelli facili da ricordare, grande presenza vocale e una struttura pensata per arrivare direttamente all\u2019ascoltatore. \u00c8 uno di quei brani che sembrano fatti per funzionare bene anche dal vivo. La stessa energia si ritrova in \u201cSurvive My Scars<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, dove la band continua a muoversi tra hard rock moderno e sonorit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 vicine al metal alternativo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La title track \u201cVillainous<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, con la partecipazione di Maria Brink degli In This Moment, \u00e8 sicuramente uno dei momenti pi\u00f9 interessanti del disco. L\u2019atmosfera pi\u00f9 oscura e il confronto tra le due voci danno al pezzo una marcia in pi\u00f9, creando un brano potente ma senza sacrificare la parte melodica. \u201cThe Words You Sa<\/em><\/strong>y<\/em>\u201d rallenta leggermente il ritmo, ma mantiene un forte impatto emotivo grazie a un crescendo ben costruito.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uno dei punti migliori dell\u2019album \u00e8 proprio questa alternanza tra aggressivit\u00e0 e melodia. \u201cDon\u2019t Say I\u2019m Ok<\/em><\/strong>\u201d ne \u00e8 un buon esempio: rispetto ad altri brani presenta una componente pi\u00f9 ruvida, con una voce pi\u00f9 sporca e un approccio pi\u00f9 diretto, ma conserva comunque quel lato catchy che rappresenta uno dei marchi di fabbrica della band. \u201cHello Hollow<\/em><\/strong>\u201d si inserisce bene nel flusso del disco, mantenendo equilibrio senza risultare un semplice riempitivo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nella seconda parte dell\u2019album troviamo episodi pi\u00f9 orientati alla componente melodica, come \u201cDark Soul<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, dove emerge maggiormente il lato emotivo della band. \u201cGasoline<\/em><\/strong>\u201d \u00e8 probabilmente uno dei brani pi\u00f9 immediati, grazie a un ritornello che rimane facilmente in testa e che sembra pensato per essere cantato a squarciagola dal pubblico. \u201cMurder Scene<\/em><\/strong>\u201d segue una direzione simile, mantenendo alta l\u2019attenzione prima della parte conclusiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSafe Word<\/em><\/strong>\u201d accompagna l\u2019ascoltatore verso il finale con un\u2019atmosfera pi\u00f9 riflessiva, mentre \u201cTeeth<\/em><\/strong>\u201d e \u201cA Violent End<\/em><\/strong>\u201d chiudono il disco lasciando una sensazione pi\u00f9 pesante e intensa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nel complesso, “Villainous<\/strong>“<\/em> \u00e8 un album che punta molto sull\u2019autenticit\u00e0 e sulla capacit\u00e0 di trasformare esperienze personali in canzoni accessibili ma non banali. Gli Eva Under Fire<\/em><\/strong> non cercano di reinventare completamente il genere, ma dimostrano di conoscere bene i propri punti di forza: una grande voce, ritornelli efficaci e un equilibrio tra energia e melodia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
