[ENG] With “Alienation“, Three Days Grace reach their eighth studio album, released on August 22, 2025,
through RCA Records, the label that has accompanied them since “Transit of Venus” in 2012.
It marks their first work as a five-piece: Adam Gontier returns as lead vocalist, while Matt Walst
remains in the lineup, creating a new vocal interplay that becomes the album’s most distinctive trait.
Production is handled by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach), Dan Lancaster
(Bring Me the Horizon, Blink-182) and Zakk Cervini (Avril Lavigne, Architects). Together they give
the record both cohesion and a modern edge, while keeping a firm connection to the band’s
post-grunge roots.
The opening track, “Dominate“, immediately sets the tone with sharp, aggressive riffs. “Apologies” shifts the focus to a more melodic side, with clear lines and a romantic flavor that stands out within the tracklist.
With “May Day“, the band stays true to its instantly recognizable riff-driven identity, but enriches it
with broader textures. “Kill Me Fast” introduces a ballad built on guitar arpeggios which, despite its more intimate setting, remains consistent with the overall framework. “In Waves” alternates between romantic touches and heavy passages, playing on dynamic contrasts. The title track, “Alienation“, is striking for its unusual opening on a kalimba, setting a dark, brooding mood that persists throughout the song.
The middle section finds “Never Ordinary” developing a steady, recurring motif, while “Deathwish“
remains firmly in line with the established standard.
“Don’t Wanna Go Home” stands out as the most unconventional piece, less tied to big choruses and
distortion, and for that reason, perhaps the most surprising.
The final triptych, “In Cold Blood“, “The Power” and “Another Relapse“, sums up the project’s
more energetic intentions and brings the record to a powerful close, reaffirming its aggressive nature.
“Alienation” is not only Gontier’s return, but also the sign of a new chapter: a band that now plays
as five and has found an unprecedented balance, ready to evolve in future works. More than a
milestone, it feels like the beginning of a different path, one that bridges memory and renewal.

raccolta, mantiene coerenza con l’impianto complessivo. In “In Waves” si ritrovano un alternarsi di tratti romantici e passaggi aggressivi, costruiti su contrasti dinamici.
Il brano eponimo, “Alienation“, si distingue invece per l’apertura affidata a una kalimba, scelta
insolita che introduce un’atmosfera cupa e scura, mantenuta lungo tutta la traccia.
La parte centrale trova in “Never Ordinary” un motivo ripetuto e sviluppato con solidità, mentre
“Deathwish” rimane pienamente nello standard tracciato dagli altri episodi.
“Don’t Wanna Go Home” rappresenta l’elemento più difforme, meno legato ai grandi ritornelli e alle
distorsioni, e per questo capace di sorprendere.
Il trittico finale, “In Cold Blood“, “The Power” e “Another Relapse“, riassume le intenzioni più
energiche del progetto e porta la chiusura su toni potenti, confermando la natura aggressiva del
disco.
“Alienation” non è soltanto il ritorno di Gontier, ma il segno di una nuova fase: una band che oggi
suona in cinque e che ha trovato un equilibrio inedito, pronto a svilupparsi nei lavori futuri. Più che
