Per i fan de “Il Trono di Spade” il 14 aprile è una data tanto attesa quanto temuta. Finalmente andrà in onda sul canale statunitense HBO la prima puntata dell’ottava e ultima stagione della serie tv fantasy più grandiosa degli ultimi anni. Purtroppo, come tutte le cose belle, anche quest’avventura nei Sette Regni sul piccolo schermo avrà fine.
L’innegabile successo della saga letteraria di George R. R. Martin “Le Cronache del Ghiaccio e del Fuoco” e della serie tv associata è ormai sotto gli occhi di tutti. Potrei (e vorrei) stare qui ad elencarvi le numerosissime ragioni del perché quello del Trono di Spade sia uno dei migliori universi fantasy mai creati, ma per vostra fortuna non è questa la sede giusta per un saggio sulla saga. Mi limiterò solo a sottolineare che volenti o nolenti (perché sì, qualcuno a cui questa storia non piace esiste), bisogna riconoscere che ormai parlare di Game of Thrones significa parlare di un cult.
Come è già successo per le opere di Tolkien e altri scritti fantasy, anche Martin con la sua storia ha ispirato musicisti di tutto il mondo, sia tra i più famosi che tra i meno conosciuti. Quante versioni rock e metal avrete già sentito della famosissima sigla della serie tv?

Quali sono i grandi temi nei Sette Regni? Naturalmente la guerra per il Trono di Spade è in primo piano, una guerra infinita per il trono nella Fortezza Rossa, un groviglio di lame di spada piuttosto scomodo che non fa altro che distoglie l’attenzione dalla vera minaccia, dal pericolo più grande che arriva dal nord: gli Estranei.

Robert Stark, il figlio maggiore di Casa Stark, è colui a cui dopo la morte del padre tocca il difficile compito di richiamare alle armi tutte le famiglie del Nord e riunirle sotto il vessillo del lupo.

Robb Stark non è di certo il primo né l’ultimo personaggio ad essere definito un traditore di giuramenti. Ser Jaime Lannister ne sa qualcosa, lui che viene amaramente chiamato Sterminatore di Re per aver ucciso il Re Folle Aerys Targaryen, dopo aver giurato di servirlo fedelmente, per impedirgli di dare fuoco e radere al suolo tutta Approdo del Re durante la Guerra dell’Usurpatore.

LA MONTAGNA e LA VIPERA
Uno degli scontri più crudeli di tutta la saga è sicuramente il combattimento tra Ser Gregor Clegane detto La Montagna che cavalca e Oberyn Martell, la Vipera Rossa di Dorne. L’impetuoso principe Oberyn vuole vendicare la morte della sorella Elia Martell, uccisa per mano di Ser Clegane. L’occasione si presenta al processo organizzato da Cercei Lannister per condannare il fratello Tyrion, accusato di aver ucciso il nipote Joffrey. Al processo per singolar tenzone, mentre Cercei sceglie Clegane come campione, Oberyn si offre di combattere per Tyrion, di modo da poter affrontare regolarmente la Montagna e vendicarsi. Come si è visto, la cosa non è finita benissimo per nessuno dei due.

Tra i personaggi “dimenticati” il giovane Viserys Targaryen, detto Il Re Mendicante, è quasi da considerarsi uno degli artefici del successo della sorella Daenerys. Se non fosse stato per il suo piano di dare in sposa Dany a Khal Drogo, forse la sua strada per diventare Khaleesi e Madre dei Draghi sarebbe stata un po’ più lunga.

Un po’ sottovalutati e a volte un po’ troppo controversi, Casa Greyjoy è stata una pedina di poco conto nella storia antica dei Sette Regni, ma si è presa un po’ di rivincita durante gli avvenimenti più recenti. Forgiati dal sale, dalla roccia e dal ferro, la casata è una via di mezzo tra pirati e vichinghi, razziatori ed esperti marinai che rispettano il solo culto del Mare.

Il meglio viene sempre alla fine! È quasi impossibile non trovare ispirazione nel personaggio di Daenerys Targaryen. Madre di Draghi, Distruttrice di Catene, Nata dalla Tempesta…anche soltanto i suoi epiteti presi singolarmente sono abbastanza metal da poter essere il titolo di un brano heavy. Lei non ha bisogno di presentazioni, vi lasciamo ai tre pezzi che abbiamo scelto per lei, che con i loro testi sono già sufficienti.
